Engineering is one of the largest employment sectors in the Mansfield and Ashfield area. On a national basis, employers are reporting a significant skills-gap in engineering – meaning the industry needs more people equipped with the right skills to enter this sector.

Students studying engineering will develop the practical skills and underpinning knowledge required to work safely and effectively when developing, designing and maintaining engineering projects. Learners will have the opportunity to experience working in environments including aerospace, transport, medicine and construction.

Students will study core units, including:

  • The engineered world
  • Investigating an engineered product
  • Interpreting and using engineering information
  • Engineering design
  • Electrical and electronic circuit construction
  • Testing and computer applications in engineering

To ensure the best possible results, learners will be assessed via exams and coursework.

There are numerous progression routes learners can take once competing this course. They can either go straight into employment or pursue further degree-level qualifications.
